English speaking practice, by situation

You do not need more English; you need the English for the room you are walking into. These pages sort real, authored phrases by where they get used — an interview, the office, a phone call, a shop — and give you the exact sentence, what it means in Hindi, and the mistake to avoid.

If you learned English at an Indian school, your reading is almost certainly years ahead of your speaking. That is not a personal failure — it is what happens when a language is taught to be identified in an exam rather than produced under time pressure. The fix is not more grammar. It is building sentences out loud, in the situations you actually face, until the assembly stops being conscious.

Questions people ask about speaking English

How can I improve my English speaking at home, alone?
Speak out loud daily against a target you can check. Reading and listening alone will not do it, because speaking fails on production speed rather than on knowledge: you know the words and cannot assemble them fast enough. Ten minutes a day of building sentences out loud — with something that corrects you — moves fluency faster than an hour of passive input, because it trains the exact skill that is failing.
Why can I understand English but not speak it?
Because understanding is recognition and speaking is production, and Indian schooling trains almost only the first. When you listen, the sentence arrives complete and your brain matches it. When you speak, you have to choose a tense, order the words English-style rather than Hindi-style, and find the vocabulary — all in about a second. That gap is normal and it closes only with speaking practice, not with more input.
How long does it take to become fluent in English?
From A2 (you get through the day) to B2 (you can hold an interview) is typically six to twelve months at thirty focused minutes a day. The variable that matters most is not talent or age — it is how much of that time is spent producing English rather than consuming it.
Is it okay to mix Hindi and English while practising?
Yes, at the start. Hinglish keeps you talking, and staying in the conversation matters more than staying in English — a sentence abandoned halfway teaches nothing. The goal is to need it less over time, not to ban it on day one. CoCap is built to accept Hinglish and pull you gently towards full English.

Want the phrases sorted by what you are trying to say — agreeing, disagreeing, apologising, asking for something? That is the English phrases index. Want the rules behind them? That is English grammar.

Reading it is not the same as saying it.

CoCap gives you an AI coach who plays the other side of the conversation — the interviewer, the colleague, the shopkeeper — so you rehearse the real thing rather than reading about it.
